GDK MedI UK Ltd, known as GDK MedI, was founded in London in 2016 as an international platform dedicated to advancing structured collaboration between the UK and China in the medical sector. The company was established by CEO Ms Alice Huang together with senior British medical professors, with engagement from stakeholders connected to the UK healthcare system.
GDK operates as a long-term strategic partner to hospitals and medical schools. Through systematic empowerment and programme-based collaboration, we support institutional advancement in:

While maintaining academic partnerships with leading UK institutions, GDK’s distinctive strength lies in its operational integration within China’s healthcare system, enabling UK–China collaborations to move from concept to structured implementation.
Our work begins at the level of discipline ecosystem design, leveraging cross-disciplinary and multi-tier resource coordination. We facilitate deep institutional cooperation and help partner hospitals build sustainable talent pipelines tailored to their clinical focus, while simultaneously enhancing research capacity and core scientific competitiveness.
GDK was formally founded in London. The founding team combined senior management experienced in both Chinese and UK healthcare systems with 15 authoritative UK medical experts, creating a strong foundation for an international medical collaboration platform.
From 31 January to 2 February 2018, GDK’s CEO participated in the high-level UK trade delegation to China led by Prime Minister Theresa May. During this visit, and in the presence of UK and Chinese officials, GDK signed cooperation agreements with multiple Chinese medical institutions, committing to structured collaboration in discipline development, evidence-based medicine, talent training, and clinical research.
GDK was honoured to attend the annual Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. The Group CEO and UK Medical Director represented the organisation at this formal occasion.
GDK has established extensive institutional cooperation networks across China, including: Beijing · Shanghai · Guangdong · Zhejiang · Sichuan · Hubei · Yunnan · Guizhou · Chongqing · Fujian Through this network, GDK has: -Organised numerous delegations of Chinese hospital leaders to the UK -Supported large numbers of Chinese clinicians in specialist training and research programmes at leading UK institutions -Facilitated reciprocal visits of UK experts and organisations to China These activities have developed into a structured, multi-level, multi-specialty ecosystem for sustained UK–China medical collaboration.

Future Direction Building International Clinical and Research Collaboration Platforms Looking ahead, GDK will focus on three strategic pillars: Clinical Co-development · Research Translation · Joint Talent Development We will continue deep collaboration with leading UK institutions such as Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford, working together to establish internationally benchmarked specialist clinical centres and joint research platforms connected to Chinese partner hospitals. Key Priorities 1.Deepening clinical collaboration and promoting international multi-centre research partnerships. 2.Building a full-cycle talent development system, expanding university study programmes, specialist training pathways, and the integration of UK physician certification systems. 3.Developing a “Co-research – Co-share – Cross-border Translation” pathway, supporting Chinese innovations in achieving clinical validation and international recognition in the UK, while introducing advanced UK healthcare management and smart hospital experience into China. 4.Supporting the international upgrading of service models and management systems within partner hospitals.
